Fees change often — always confirm the current amount with the department before you budget.

Restaurant / food-facility permit

Food Facility Permit to Operate
Fee not published online — contact the department.

Annual food facility permit fees are set in the county Master Schedule of Fees (Environmental Health), enabled by Fresno County Code Ch. 8.50. The published fee PDF uses subset CID fonts that were not machine-readable at time of capture, so exact restaurant tier amounts could not be verified - see Master Schedule of Fees (cited). Permits are non-transferable; a new owner must pay fees and obtain a Permit to Operate before operating.

Plan review — required

$490 plan review fee (per Fresno County EH plan-check documents), due when construction/remodel plans are submitted; plans are not considered received until the plan check fee is paid.

Turnaround: Plans reviewed in order received; initial review completed within 20 business days.

Food truck / mobile permit

Mobile Food Vendor Permit
$573 mobile plan check fee, due at plan submittal (per Fresno County EH). Annual mobile food vendor permit fee is in the Master Schedule of Fees and was not machine-readable from the fee PDF at capture - unverified/null.

Consumer Food Program permits and inspects mobile food vendors; mobile plan check must be completed before permitting.

Watch out for

  • Plans are not 'received' (and not queued for the 20-business-day review) until the plan check fee is paid.
  • The Master Schedule of Fees is updated at least annually; food facility permits are non-transferable on change of ownership.
