Condenser Type (Air, Water, Remote)
condenser type: The condenser rejects the heat a refrigeration or ice system removes. Air-cooled condensers blow heat into the room; water-cooled condensers use a water loop; remote condensers sit outside or on the roof. Each trades installation, efficiency, and heat/noise in the kitchen differently.
Why it matters when buying
Air-cooled is simplest and cheapest but adds heat and noise to the kitchen and struggles in hot, cramped spaces. Water-cooled runs cooler and quieter but uses water and needs plumbing. Remote moves heat outdoors — best for tight, hot kitchens — at higher install cost. Match to your space and climate.
How to read it on a spec sheet
Confirm the condenser type and its clearance and ambient-temperature limits. Air-cooled units list a maximum ambient; water-cooled list water flow/temperature; remote units specify line lengths and the matching remote unit.
