1. Weight capacity. This is the whole point of a chef base. Depending on width (they run roughly 36 to 120 inches), a quality unit supports anywhere from about 700 lbs to well over 1,000 lbs on top, with each drawer typically rated somewhere in the range of 88–275 lbs.
